Biography
Fernando Ferreira was born in Mafamude – Vila Nova de Gaia – Portugal, in 1975, in a modest family. At the age of 3 he moved to Labruge-Vila do Conde-Portugal.
At the age of 12, he completed the 6th year of compulsory education, and 2 months later he soon started working to support his family.
Married with two children, he has lived in Malta / Canidelo-Vila do Conde since that time. He has always been interested in Photography and Nature, and at age 40 he finally had the opportunity to buy a digital camera, which boosted his passion.
Since 2015, she has started, in a self-taught and voluntarily way, to make an exhaustive photographic record of the Fauna and Flora of some (the aim is to do all) Parishes in the municipality of Vila do Conde, including the Ornithological Reserve of Mindelo, the oldest protected area in Portugal and one of the oldest in Europe.
Without any training in photography and with very basic equipment, I would like to one day be able to record the Fauna and Flora of the municipality of Vila do Conde, including the entire Regional Protected Landscape of the Vila do Conde Coast and Mindelo Ornithological Reserve, to later publish and expose all these records to the general population, also making the didactic dissemination of their work by the Homes for the Elderly and Schools, in order to alert and make known all the natural treasure that we have and that we must preserve.
This Project aims not only to register the Biodiversity of Vila do Conde, but also to be a didactic tool in Environmental Education and Awareness, in order to drive positive changes among as many people as possible, especially in our schools.
Note:
Currently, and within the scope of the D. Pedro IV School Grouping Science Project – Mindelo – Vila do Conde, he was invited by teacher Elsa Santos to organize several awareness sessions for the protection and preservation of the natural environment, under the theme “Our Animals Auxiliaries”.
This initiative arose as a result of the Photographic Exhibition “Biodiversity on our Earth” by him.
Biodiversity in our Land exhibition by Fernando Ferreira is the first in the world to be inclusive for color blind people.
Fernando Ferreira Photography is a pioneer in the implementation of good practices of universal communication, this time through the ColorADD code.

Love to watch animals since I can remember. When I was 16 I got my first SLR camera and been photographing ever since. In 2000 I decided to try underwater photography… big “mistake”: it evolved into a very addictive hobby.
