Habitat

Marinho; Mesopelágico e batipelágico; intervalo de profundidade: 100-4337 metros, embora mais frequentemente entre os 400-1000 metros.

Ocorre a meia-água, geralmente abaixo dos 400 metros mas ocasionalmente em águas pouco profundas. Alimenta-se de crustáceos enquanto nada de boca aberta.
