- Cabeça grande de cor amarelo-laranja
- Olhos castanho-escuro
- Bico em forma de bico-de-papagaio
- Comprimento até 1,5 metros
- Peso comum de cerca de 180 kg.
- Carapaça de um castanho avermelhado, enquanto a parte de baixo (plastron) é amarelo
- Não apresenta poros inframarginais nas pontes do plastrão.
